They key to a successful blog is to set yourself up for success. You can create content that your audience wants to read and your photos are amazing but if you don’t have systems in place to get your blog post out there then your setting yourself up for failure. Today I am going to share the top 10 Ways To Promote Your Blog.
- CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Create a schedule for your blog and stick with it. For me I post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can take it a step further by breaking down what you post on those days. For example I post for my Bold Bloggers (If you haven’t joined our Facebook Community yet then join HERE) on Mondays, so you can count on seeing a post from me every Monday and then pop over into our Facebook community to have a chat about it! On Wednesdays and Friday’s are style posts. When you have specific posts for each day it helps you to schedule your calendar easier.
- CREATE SHARABLE IMAGES
Every platform has it’s own preferred image dimensions so create a few images that match those dimensions so that it makes them easy to share! When you use those preferred images it helps to bump them up in the algorithm’s. In my Bold Bloggers Checklist it shares the dimensions for each platform.
I always have a few favourite images that I like to make shareable images but it would look weird sharing the same picture over and over so I hide the image in the post (how to do this is also in my Bold Bloggers Checklist). Create your templates for your shareable images in Canva.com
- CLICK TO TWEET
Creating a click to tweet image is an easy way to ask your followers to tweet your quote and share your blog. Plus once it’s created it makes it easy for you to tweet out your quote too! I’ve created the one below using coschedule (the click to tweet plugin is free)
Schedule everything! It allows you to plan ahead, make sure you don’t miss a day and be on top of your game. I schedule all my blog posts in advance, I then schedule all the social media posts that go along with them, and I take it a step further by scheduling my pinterest to continually pin my blog posts over and over again. When you take the time to schedule everything it allows you to start working on your next project or post. Check out this post on how to schedule with Planoly for Instagram
- SHARE TIMES TO SOCIAL MEDIA
A couple of ways you can check your best times to post for social media is to 1 test it out or 2 use apps to help analyze your data. Instagram is one that has great apps to determine when to post, you can take a look at your analytics in Instagram itself if you are a business account or use Iconosquare. You always want to post when you have the majority of your audience online. Here’s a look at my analytics on when my best time to post is for my audience. The black dots show when I tend to post and the bigger they are more I post at those times, while the red dots show when my best times.
- USE PINTEREST IN YOUR FAVOUR
Pinterst is such a great way to drive traffic to your blog. Think of Pinterest not as social media but as a search engine. It’s a great way for people to search for answers to questions they have like “How to promote your blog” or “how to wear a little black dress”. Create images to share for Pinterest and use descriptions in your pin that your audience would search for. In the next two blog posts I am going to be sharing how I use Boardbooster and Tailwind to grow my Pinterest and gain reach.
So not only are you going to have to pick the most popular time to share your posts to Instagram but you are going to need to make sure you schedule yourself 30 minutes afterwards to be able to respond to comments. Here’s the thing… You cannot just post and expect magic to happen for 2 reasons. 1. The algorithm doesn’t work that way. The first 30 minutes after you post is the determining factor for the algorithm on if that post is going to get seen by more of your audience. So if you make yourself available to respond to comments and also start engaging on other comments then that is going to help set your post up for more visibility.
The 2nd reason you need to stay on is because that creates community. If you can respond as soon as someone posts on your feed the better chances you have of creating an engaging conversation, of showing that you care, and having whoever comments remember what they commented on your post in the first place.
- JOIN NETWORKS
I cannot tell you how much joining Facebook groups and blogger groups have helped me. Obviously as you have read above we have our own community the Bold Bloggers Community where you can share your posts, ask questions and support each other but the other one that I am a member of is Style Collective. Style Collective is a community of fashion blogger babes who are sisters suprporting each other in our blogger journey. We have local groups, meet ups, online chat sessions, blog post comment groups and are always updated on what is new in our industry. I plan on doing a whole post on Style Collective in the future too. But please check them out before then.
- SUBSCRIBE POP UP
This is an easy on to implement and then leave it be. I have it set up when new viewers head over to ABI there is a pop up that allows them to subscribe to the A Beautiful Inspiration Blog.
- BLOG POSTS IN MAILBOX
Once you have subscribers to your email list you can set up a campaign that delivers all your blog posts to your readers right to their mailbox. This is a great way to remind your audience of your blog, new posts and keep them engaged.
A lot of these systems can be automated so make sure to take advantage of that so you can concentrate on your content and creating something your readers are going to love and share! Make sure to download the Bold Bloggers Checklist to make sure every post is promoted and shared for maximum results!
