In our house we don’t really do a whole lot for Valentines Day, we avoid going out because it is just craziness, flowers are beyond expensive at this time and to be honest all I would prefer to do is just spend a little time with my husband and kids. So this year I’ve decided to change it up a little bit. We’re still not going out but wouldn’t it be nice to do something special at home. Nothing crazy, just a little decorations to celebrate the day and show that you care and some craft time creating them with the kids.
In deciding this I thought it would be fun to create a post of 15 Valentines Day Ideas! These are going to range from fun crafty ideas for the kids, to home decor to something you can do for the special someone in your life.
1. VALENTINES DAY HAND CRAFT
I really love this idea. It’s super easy to do with the kids and has huge meaning tied to it. Plus my kids would love colouring their hands for their dad and grandparents. Definitely a must on our craft planning agenda. I found this idea on Just Imagine.
2. BOOK OF LOVE COUPONS
This is one of my favourites for sure, and something I am definitely going to be printing. Head over to I Heart Naptime because these printables are free and so very cute!!
3. KIDS VALENTINES COUPON BOOK
I loved the book of Love and now I love the kids version coupon book. My kids would adore this as a gift and again they also supply a free printable at I can Teach My Child. I’m looking forward to creating these. I like the idea of doing something more meaningful than chocolate since we pretty much never let them eat all the chocolate anyways.
4. FROZEN VALENTINES CARD PRINTABLE
I can guarantee you that Frozen will be the valentines theme for the kids this year so I have already gone with it and purchased these printable frozen valentines card from Dainty Digital Designs. Cost wise it will probably end up being the same as buying store bought valentines but this way I got to shop at home and I get to print on the paper I want. Plus they are going to look really cute on Emily’s Valentines gift bags.
5. VALENTINES POPCORN SNACK
My family loves popcorn so I am thinking this might be a really great idea to make this and serve it with a movie on our valentines evening. Plus the great thing is you can make this in advance and it lasts a week in an airtight container. You can find the recipe to make it on Gimme Some Oven.
6. CUPID FLOATS
For Emily’s last birthday I made this but blue for a frozen theme and it was a massive hit with the kids and the adults. No one can resist a float and especially if you bring in the theme with them. The recipe can be found on Somewhat Simple.
7. VALENTINES DAY WALL ART
Do you decorate your house and change up the theme of it based on the upcoming holiday? I have only really done Christmas and a little bit of Halloween but I think it’s about time that I start doing things like this and making it a bit of a family craft time. I bet my little me would adore having one of these that she made in her room. The DIY instructions are on Tatertots and Jello.
8. VALENTINES DAY PRINTABLES
If you like the idea of adding a little decorations to your house but don’t have the time to actually DIY them then you can check out eighteen25 for these free printables. You could actually do several though out the house and then use the same frames to change out for the next theme of decorating.
9. VALENTINES NAIL POLISH GIFT
This would make a great gift for the teachers. It something more than the standard candy and sweets for the kids in the class but still something small to show that they are appreciated. I like to give gifts that they can use. You can find the DIY and Free Printables at Seven Thirty Three.
10. VALENTINES HEART WREATH
this is a fantastic craft for the kids! I wish I had seen this just a few hours ago when I was actually at the dollar store and contemplating where I could use those hearts! Such a fun craft for the kids to do and then decorate the house with. I am probably going to be heading back to the dollar store so they can do this now. I found this fun craft at Saving With Shellie.
11. VALENTINES DIY SHIRTS!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea! I may not recreate this exact shirt but I am definitely going to be doing some fun DIY shirt for the kids to wear on valentines day. I may have to create one for myself and then one for my husband who may not wear it but it would sure be cute! The DIY details can be found on Simply Real Moms.
12. VALENTINES TREE CRAFT
Such a great craft for the kids to have some fun with. I even just so happened to pick up a bunch of pre cut felt heart stickers from the dollar store that I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with but I think this may be the perfect craft to use them for! You can find the original DIY on I Gotta Create!
13. SPRINKLE YOUR OWN CUPCAKE GIFT
Cutest valentines gift I have ever seen! I wish I was in charge of cupcakes for the kids valentines party this year instead of the veggie platter. This would be the most fun for them ever to get. All the printable details and DIY can be found over at Pep N’ Paper Flowers.
14. VALENTINE SPRINKLE JEWELRY
Such a fun craft for kids! Plus if my little girl made me one of these I would be so proud to wear it for sure. The DIY for this necklace can be found on Bubbly Nature Creations.
15. DIY HEART HEADBAND
ADORABLE! Plus those felt hearts I mentioned from the dollar store are also perfect for this craft!! All the DIY to create your own headband are located at Little Artsy.
