Ugh… is all I can say about working out and eating healthy… I know you might be reading this and are in the same position as me… I never seem to have time for working out, or things come up and take the time I did have available and it goes towards something else… My intentions are good but somewhere down the line it comes up short… THEN the dreaded THEN… I didn’t work out and that bowl of chips somehow ends up on the table in front of me and the dilemma is on. Do I have a chip or not… and without that motivation that appears after a good work out to not wreck the workout I cave, and I cave hard! I eat the whole bowl of chips and then I’m in the mood for another snack. Hmmmm… Well I’ve already had a whole bowl of chips why not have a halloween candy chocolate bar too, and maybe another…the night is already ruined so what is another? It’s a vicious cycle that seems to just keep going on over and over for me. I’ve said this plenty of times and done really well until I fall off the wagon and the cycle starts over again.
It is really time to dedicate myself to working out, taking care of myself, appreciating my results and not pushing myself too hard I will succeed. I will say that eating diet crazy foods is not for me, I love food and don’t have any desire to feel starving all day long. But I do want to eat food that are clean and make me energized and eating the proportions that are right for me.
Are you in the same boat as me? I have a feeling that a lot of women really are. So what are we to do? Have you read the book Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body by Kate Hudson? I LOVE books about happiness and health, although I will admit I bought this book by accident. I thought it was more about having a happy life and instead it is about eating healthy and finding the right exercise. Maybe it’s fate that I bought it, took it on a trip and had nothing to read but this on a 3 hour plane ride because it really is something that has stuck with me. It focuses on not working out to work out and doing a work out you hate but instead finding something that you really enjoy. For me I hate cardio. I have zero interest in getting on a treadmill for 30 minutes. What I do love is yoga. Now cardio may have a bigger impact faster but if I never ever want to do it then what is the point? I’ll constantly be putting it off and my results will be less than if I did yoga.
Another thing I read was about eating clean. Making your food and not eating out of a box, knowing what the ingredients are in it and if the ingredients don’t make sense then it’s probably not a whole food. Prepping your meals in advance or meal planning can really help, it eliminates the craziness of life contributing to you forgetting to take out chicken for dinner and you are stuck with baking a pre-made frozen lasagna. She also challenged you to cut something out for a week. I decided to cut out sugar and see what happened… Turns out that rash that I couldn’t explain on my arm went away when I cut out sugar… If you haven’t read this book yet I really recommend you do.
And finally since this is a fashion blog I also completely believe that when you set your closet up with some killer workout gear you will want to wear it, and it starts to feel really awesome when those tight yoga pants start fitting even better and making you look even slimmer because your results are starting to show. So below I have shared some of my favourite yoga gear! I may be a slight brand snob when it comes to my work out clothing. I only wear Lululemon, Under Armour, Nike and Calia By Carrie Underwood (because I love her and her clothes)…
Hope your inspired by todays post to tackle your own fitness journey! I plan on really taking mine on and working it. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes for sure!
xo Happy Monday!! Jen
