Well in the fall of last year I gave myself permission to shop a bit. Well like a caged animal let free I shopped and shopped and shopped… so when it comes to budgeting let me say first of all that is not realistic… at least not in my life.
So this year I am making a big big change. I am putting myself on a budget. You may be saying hey? Isn’t that what you said you were doing last fall when the shopping madness began? Sure is!
But this time I am super super serious. I am also not the caged animal deprived of the shopping thrill I was last year.
This year my budget is $100 a month. I’m going to show you what I got and what I spent. To clarify this is my monthly budget… if I happen to get coupons (ex. This month I used my RW&Co Dollars, more details below) & gift cards (from my December birthday) those I am not including in my budget. If I go over my budget it comes out of next month. If I save that saved amount rolls over (you know for those stellar jeans or OTK boots).
I will say that I have spent years collecting wardrobe staples… t shirts I love, jeans I love, cardigans, coloured skinniest, nice blouses, and on and on… so right now I am only adding things that I love, I need, are unique and affordable.
So that said once the budget is spent I’m done for the month and will share what I got… so…. my budget this month is done… haha I laugh at myself because it was actually gone on January 2nd… mostly because my favourite store gave me RW&Co Dollars (you get them for spending money at their store during a specific period in December… I’ll let you know when the next one is!!)
So these Dollars when you spend $100 you get $50 off to its shopping for half price essentially and I had 2 of them! Yay! Plus I had a $40 gift card from my birthday!
So I found this amazing Biker Style Blazer that I was crushing on (Reg. Price $139.90). The reason I love it is because it is structured but is made of a sweater material which makes it very comfortable and great for everyday while making you look completely pulled together! I plan on wearing this for an event coming up with a pink cami and maybe some distressed jeans or even leather leggings.
I also got my Ice Cream Sweater which has the cutest back, this sweater was Reg $89.90. I love having fun sweaters like this to add into your closet, especially when it is soft like this one is.
Budget Breakdown:
Biker Style Jacket $139.90
Ice Scream Sweater $89.90
minus $100 my RW&CO Dollars – Spend $200 and get $100 off
minus $40 my birthday gift card
Leaving my total $97.00
I would say success!!! The jacket obviously is a staple that will be worn for years, it’s also really well made (as all RW&CO) clothing are so I know it will last. The sweater isn’t exactly a closet staple but in the winter I always wear sweaters because it’s so cold where I live sometimes so I can guarantee it will be worn many times over… which to be honest it already has.
What do you think of this months spend?
