Today we are chatting about Planoly, my favourite app to help organize my Instagram posts.
It really is so awesome and I 100% credit my what I think is a nice looking account to using this program. Originally I would just post as I went without much thought to the overall look of my Instagram feed. This is a mistake because your feed won’t look cohesive and well thought out. FYI brands and potential followers are naturally drawn to Instagram accounts that have a beautiful feed. If your goal is to work with brands you love then your feed aesthetic is important.
So let’s chat about Planoly and how it can work for your Instagram feed.
So when you download the app and link your Instagram account it will immediately load your recent photos like this…
The reason I love this app is because it gives you your current grid with your photos on Instagram already and then allows you to add new photos and then place them depending on what looks good together.
Below is an example of my Planoly feed right now. I like to fill my feed with images I know are coming to the blog and will be posted to social media to share the current post, such as this weeks Picnic in St. John’s at Signal Hill. I also put any photos I snap that will fit my feed like the cute pink leggings I’ve got scheduled to post next.
There are 3 different kinds of images in the photo above
- Photos that have no letters in the corner are the posts already shared on Instagram.
- The ones with a S are ones that are scheduled to post. These will always be moved into order of how they are scheduled.
- Photos with a U in the corner are unscheduled photos. These photos you can move around and adjust until you find images that work well together.
Below is two examples of how I like to use my Planoly.
1 shares my feed just put up based on what is on the blog and I have to add. No thought out into a cohesive look. The 2nd one shares the same photos just placed in a way that makes them look good together and nice for the eye to take in. It helps the readers eye to bounce from photo to photo and really enjoy your photos.
So the main use of planoly is to help you get your Instagram feed looking beautiful and scheduled if you choose to use that. You are able to add multiple images, schedule your stories even and also post from planoly to Instagram. When you schedule you will still have to actually post to Instagram but you will get a notification as to when it is ready to post.
Planoly also offers analytics on your Instagram account. It shared your Instagram current likes, comments, comments per post and likes per post and can be measured weekly, monthly or yearly for comparison.
It also shows your top 5 most commented and top 5 most liked posts. This is really helpful because it gives you some insight into what your audience likes which helps you create more content you know they will like.
I have been using planoly for almost a year and love it. There is a free version all the way up to a paid service.
I started using the free version which allows you to add 30 images/month. I try to post 2 times a day so obviously I upgraded myself to the solo plan which is only $9/month. It’s a small cost that I find completely worth it. I use it daily and since using it I have seen an increase in followers and brands reaching out to me. I have confidence that my Instagram feed reflects my brand, my blog and the feeling I want my audience to have when they visit my page.
Hope using planoly helps grow your blogging business!
