Starting My Career Over + Fall Transition Look

Being honest today on my blog about starting my career over at 34 and how it can be a blessing and empowering

I have really opened up a lot with my blog posts since I first started blogging, talking about my journey to happiness, challenging my style and inviting you into my life. At the same time I have been very private and protective of what goes on my life, who I am, how I feel about where I am and where I want to go. SO… Here is the opening to a new chapter of being more open and sharing a bit more of my struggles, successes and goals. Today is going to be real honest about something I have been keeping to myself for a few months!

I am 34 and starting my career over!

Ok maybe not entirely starting over but pretty much starting from scratch! I have always had this vision that I at 24 I was going to find that perfect career that makes me so happy and I was going to work at it and make my way up to the top. Funny how I have bounced around several times in my journey to finding my “happy” career. Most recently I have been working for my parents until I found out that I wouldn’t be in a few months. So here I am, thinking about what I am going to do. What would make me “happy”?

I have owned Fresh Look Event Management since 2007, I love the beauty of weddings, of creating events for guests to enjoy, seeing people ohh and ahh about how stunning the room looks. That makes me happy.

I love blogging, having fun with my style, so continue on A Beautiful Inspiration! Yay! But there will be a shift here a bit. I’m going to get more personal. I have always taken my personal struggles and turned them into a positive message. I will continue to do that because that really is the heart of my blog and message. Now with the addition of being REAL like this post today and saying it’s ok to be 34 and still not in my “happy” career! This is a chance to take something that seems daunting and could make me have a panic attack and bring a positive spin to it. This is an opportunity to GO FOR IT! To go for my goals without a backup plan (I’ve always had a backup, now I don’t) to succeed, to fail and learn and then to grow. I look at it as MY CHANCE to make things happen. If I can take a scary situation like this and stand tall then so can you!

If you haven’t noticed I’ve also started a segment called Bold Bloggers. This is my way of giving back, or helping others, teaching what I know. I have blogged since my daughter was born (8 years on 3 blogs – Hot Mama Network (yes I picked that name, reason why it no longer exists) A Beautiful Inspiration & Your Edmonton Wedding). I wish I had someone to help me so I am doing that for anyone who loves fashion and wants to create a successful fashion blog. Join our Bold Bloggers VIP Facebook group to be part of the community!

So there you have it! Me! This post is as real as it gets for me.

Now onto today’s fall transition look. We have had some beautiful weather so it’s been great to wear my summer dress from Skinnytees and throw on my long vest from Simon’s (it’s not online so I’ve linked some other similar vests). This vest I’ve worn so many times since getting it because it is so versatile.

I really feel like this outfit goes perfect with my honest post because it was at a Vignettes Design Series, a location we stumbled upon that had these amazing murals including this floral mural by local artist Giselle Denis. This mural was closed off but luckily our timing was perfect because the owner was there and opened the fence so we could take a few photos. Things happen for a reason, even the creation of these photos and this post.

This look also has this gorgeous necklace created by a local artist and owner Nicole from Out Of The Blue a mobile fashion truck. This necklace is in a druzy stone which I adore, in the shape of a heart, again adore, and wrapped in gold foil. It is just absolutely stunning and totally speaks to me, my heart and passion. I also appreciate that I am wearing something created by someone who is going for their dream.

MY STYLE:

PS A bunch of these dresses and vests below are GREAT Prices!!

My life and my path have lead me to where I am, who I have met and where I am going. No matter what happens in your life look for that underlying path. Things can be scary but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t right.

Take this real post and be inspired. Take this story behind how these photos were captured and what they mean and be inspired. There is a path meant to be taken and I can feel that I am on the right one, even if it is 10 years later than I had planned.

Never to late to restart your career! This gives me hope because I still have no idea what to do with my life (well I kinda do) and I’m scared that I’ll change my mind once I pick a profession.

I agree never too late! You just need to go for it! You never know what will happen unless you give it a try and if you don’t then you will always wonder. So go for it!

Thanks Jana, I’ve known since June but it took me a while to figure out what my plan was and be ok with it. I’m still a bit terrified but also so excited to be able to build my own company and empire for me.
