Be Gentle With Yourself

be more gentle with yourself, you never know what might happen in your life so be gentle. You deserve the best happy, healthy life possible

This weekend was a great reminder to be gentle with yourself. I spent with my family at Camp Kindle celebrating my cousin who passed away from Cancer 6 years ago. If you haven’t heard of Camp Kindle it is this amazing camp in Alberta Canada that gives every dollar of profit generated through Camp Kindle directly to serving Alberta children and families affected by cancer. It really is an amazing place that has a special spot in my families heart. It really made me feel like I need to stop slow down and spend more time being present with my family because you never know how quickly it can be gone or changed.

So feeling inspired to not take my family for granted, to appreciate how lucky I am I came home to find some really unsettling news… My friend who is close to my age had a heart attack… She is this amazing boss babe going after her dream, a mother to a super cute little boy, she is so inspiring and pro #womensupportingwomen , she has really been a blessing to have come into my life, she is all of this plus having a job on top of of her dream boutique. She is also in great shape and takes care of herself. How can she have a heart attack? Thank goodness after spending more than a weekend in the hospital she was sent home with a new outlook on taking care of herself.

It’s scary because like many entrepreneur women we think and try to do it all. We try to manage our jobs while working our dream job on the side. We try to be a good wife, mother, friend and keeping that work life balance. We try to be healthy, sometimes succeeding and sometimes failing. With all these things we are trying to do we have to be careful to always remember to give ourselves some grace and be gentle with ourselves.

This whole finding work life balance needs to really balance itself out and we need to make it a priority. Your family should always be your priority. I say this but I am guilty of putting my dreams ahead of being present with my family. It is not until we experience something that rocks our world that this seems to get put into perspective. So please take my experience, my families experience and my friends experience rock your world and remind you of what is a priority. Yes we need to go after our dreams, we need to put food on the table, we want to go on fancy vacations, and on and on and on. But those things are nothing if the world ends for us tomorrow. Our family is what is important. Please be gentle with yourself, your health and your family. Those are all that matters.

Wow, I’m glad your friend is ok. That would be a really scary experience to go through. I completely agree it’s so important to take care of ourselves. As easy as it is to get caught up in the grind we have to take the time to make sure we are at our best.
